# Food library

Save reusable meals with serving sizes and nutrition details, then use them when you log food in Helios.

## Keep the meals you come back to.

Save the serving and nutrition details for meals you use often. Next time you eat one, choose it from your library and check the amount.

## Save a meal once

Keep a meal name, serving size, and nutrition details together for reuse.

## Log it when you eat it

Saving a meal adds it to your library. You choose when to record it in your food log.

## Keep past records intact

Changing a saved meal does not change food you recorded earlier.

## How it works

1. **Add the details.** Use nutrition values from a food label or another reliable source.
2. **Save for later.** Keep the meal in Helios, or ask your agent to prepare several meals for your review.
3. **Choose it again.** Select the saved meal when you log food, then set the serving amount.

## Try it with your agent

Help me prepare five meals to save in Helios. Use nutrition values from their labels. Show me the servings and values before saving, and do not add them to my food log.

## Put it into practice

- [How can you estimate a meal when you do not know the recipe?](/blog/how-can-you-estimate-a-meal-when-you-do-not-know-the-recipe.md): Break an unknown meal into visible parts and record a range instead of false precision.
- [How do you record a homemade dish with many ingredients?](/blog/how-do-you-record-a-homemade-dish-with-many-ingredients.md): Save the recipe once, define a practical portion, and update the entry when the recipe changes.
- [How do you read carbohydrate values on a food label?](/blog/how-do-you-read-carbohydrate-values-on-a-food-label.md): Read serving size and total carbohydrate, then use fiber, sugar, and added sugar lines for context.
